Spring Clean Your Self Care
Julia Wilkins | APR 16, 2024
It is hard to believe we are heading into Spring already! It seems like just yesterday we were talking about New Year's resolutions and taking care of ourselves through the cold Winter months.
If you find that Spring is providing you with a renewed desire to focus on self-care, here are some tips to help take action.
1. Schedule time for yourself. This may seem basic, but creating non-negotiable time that is just for you and setting boundaries around that time is a good way to ensure your self-care doesn't take a back seat to your ever growing to-do list. Even 15 or 30 minutes a day to read, meditate, go for a walk, call a friend, or do yoga can have a measurable impact on your health!
2. Start or restart a hobby or activity you enjoy. I reserve time every week to work on a hobby I love and I make it about the time spent and not an output. If you like to crochet but you have been working on the same blanket for two years so you feel like it is a waste of time, shift your focus to the time you are spending on you versus completing a task. Do at least one thing every week just because it brings you joy!
3. Swap A Habit! In the spirit of Spring cleaning, declutter your self-care by finding one habit that no longer serves you and changing it out for one that does. If you find yourself nodding off every time you try to meditate, maybe it is time to swap that daily time for a relaxing walk outside. If the time you spend unwinding for bedtime by reading is making you more stressed when heading to rest, switch for 10 minutes of focused stretching, yoga or dry brushing instead! Reflect on your daily habits and determine which are worth keeping and which you may want to ditch.
As always, yoga is an amazing way to focus on self-care as well as fitness and emotional well-being.
